New York Cityyyyy

New York was not a warm welcome! The three of us were tired, cranky and just wanted to rock up to our hotel and sleep...this was not the case. We got to our hotel after a long cab ride from the airport, lugged our stuff into the lobby and handed the service dude our confirmation for the ten days....hmmmmm. Apparently our confirmed paid booking wasn't at all...they had no room for us!!!! We had to carry all our stuff up the road in the early hours of the morning to another hotel!!! Unimpressed. After a sleepless night we decided to find somewhere else to stay...found a place that looked ok online so we put a deposit on it, packed our stuff and went to that place. It would have been fine to stay at if we wanted to be killed and thrown in a dumpster out the back...hideous, rubbish everywhere! doors that didnt close and a crazy cat women who ran the place!!! no thanks. So angry tired Brodie came out (the worst one) we marched right back into our original hotel and demanded they sort out the accomodation situation as we couldn't see how we could be at fault for their incompetence....they sorted it out.  They found a room and ordered in a fold out bed to accomodate us. However, after another sleepless night due to a pipe making crazy sporadic noises during the night...Super tired and Angry Brodie was OVER IT! Lehan found another hotel closer to Times Square, I demanded a refund for the rest of the stay we were meant to have and they also refunded our first night money....IDIOTS. NYC beginnings made me homesick, it had some redeeming to do. And it did.

Its not the sightseeing here that I enjoy, its the random experiences that you don't expect. Statue of Liberty? Whatever. Hitting the Laundromat to do laundy?? Awesome. Seeing spring training baseball...freaking sweet! Broadway musicals...loving life. We have been walking everywhere and you accidently run into funky little restaurants, markets selling local arts and foods, Little Italy, Chinatown,  NY crazies with yellow rats climbing on the shoulder and a bearded man dressed in a tropical dress with his hair sprayed green. There is such a diverse range of delicious foods here...and of course thousands of places selling pizza and hot dogs. Cabs are super cheap and super easy to catch...just like the movies.

Last night was one of the funnest night we have had. We saw miami horror in Brooklyn. After a few free poured Vodkas (the bartender just pours both vodka and juice in simultaneously...you'd be arrested for serving drinks that potent back home) dancing shoes were onnnn. Apparently Americans dont dance at gigs so it was pretty much the 5 of us jumping around in the crowd. Best of all Lehan and I got to dance on stage at the end and then sing with the main dude!!! He must have noticed our beautiful singing voices. So much fun..then back into town with a maccas adventure where we ate some delicious cheeseburgers and met an Irish dude who told us there is no potatoes left in Ireland.

Still have a few days left where we are gonna hit up the markets in Greenwich again and I might see Phantom of the Opera. The Lion King was amazing and Mary Poppins Brilliant. So for now New York has well and truly redeemed itself, shopping is crazy cheap and I am not so homesick like I was on the first few days :)

Will put some photos up in the next few days.
Love Brods
