We were welcomed into the small town of Fernie with -11 degree temps, magical surrounding mountains and heaps and heaps of smiling strangers. First night was at the pub down the road from raging elk backpackers for a few drinks...a few more for Lehan, Jared and Stephen. Not too hard to find our way around..Lehan however struggled for direction in the one room backpackers! We met Dennis the next day who cooked breakfast and drove us to our new abode on McLeod Ave..freaking sweeetttt and cosy. Our first visitor to the house was Scotti that afternoon, much to our delight (mine especially). After watching the local Hockey Team the Fernie Ghostriders and Jared being satisfied that he witnessed one hockey fight we hit the town again with Dennis introducing us to one thousand more friends!! Wicked night also. The sun gets up late here...so we follow suit. Forked out almost our lifes savings to get passes for the mountain, but the runs are amazing and the snow is phenomenal! Heading to Banff tomorrow in our hire car for Christmas...it will be like a red can of sardines but we will survive! Great start to our stay. Just got to toughen up to the freaking frrreeeezzzinnngg weather!
